Care That Respects Your Boundaries
Acupuncture can be a deeply supportive part of care for people living with the effects of trauma, particularly when the body itself has become a place where stress, tension, vigilance, or disconnection are held.
At The CMNWLTH, your sense of safety
is part of the treatment.
Acupuncture does not require an internal examination, observation, or physical touch of the reproductive organs. If you are seeking care for menstrual, reproductive, pelvic, or sexual health concerns, treatment can be performed using points on distal areas of the body such as the arms, legs, back, abdomen, ears, or head. An internal pelvic examination is not part of acupuncture treatment at The CMNWLTH.
If you have experienced sexual trauma, you are welcome to let me know — but you never have to share anything you are not comfortable sharing. You can tell me what you need in order to feel more at ease, including where you are comfortable being touched, which areas you would prefer to avoid, and what you would like to know before treatment begins.
Your boundaries are part of your care.
You are always invited to ask questions, pause treatment, change the plan, or change your mind. We can move slowly. We can check in. And we can adjust treatment to meet you where you are that day. There is no expectation that you should endure discomfort, override your instincts, or surrender your sense of agency in order to receive care. Your body belongs to you. Your “no” is welcome here. Your “not yet” is welcome here, too.
